SmartLipo – Still Living with the Nightmare After 1 Year

Not Worth It
Spent: $7,200 in Salt Lake City, UT

no pain – will go back to work the next day is what the saleswomen said. Board Certified Dr. big lie. Sent me home vomiting my toenails. 6 hours home, husband had to call ambulance after losing consciouness. ER doctor's called clinic to tell them I was at the hospital and they said "sorry we don't treat complications" and hung up. 3 day hospital stay, lidocaine overdose diagnoses. 27 days off work, wore the garment 24 hours for a good three months. Couldn't take off for 7 months. Still feel pain after 1 year and 5 days. Abs stomach and flanks are now full of scare tissue and feel like I've been doing set-ups non-stop for a month. I also weigh 20 lbs more then before the procedure. – Just be happy with what God has given you.

Had Lipo – 5’6″, 141lb

Worth It
Spent: $1,990 in La Jolla, CA

So I just has my procedure done yester day May 18th Tues., its now Wed. I couldnt sleep cuz I can lay on my side…:( I'm just being a big baby though. The procedure went great over-all. I'm still leaking alot out of little holes but that is normal and good. I keep massaging when I remember to get fluid out to make swelling go down faster. Ihave work in am and I hope to stop leaking by then.

So my Dr. was very very nice, calmed me down before and after. I was such a baby he gave me laughing gas to help me relax and for the pain. I have had a baby removed from my tummy so this didnt even come close to that pain. My eyes did water and for a minute or so I moaned but he always numbed me after I said I could feel it or turn up my gas. The removing the fat part didnt hurt at all, it was the numbing medicine that gave you that burned and the fluid with more numbing medicine that they filled you with that hurted. But it didnt last that long. If I dont loose my tummy weight I'll go back and have my lower tummy done…:) Once you know what to expect its not to bad. I have my inner and outter thighs done and a lil below my bottom. The price was great, I got a grat deal cuz I didnt have such a large area.

I'm 5.6 and I was 150 dieted b4 surgery, was 141.6 the day I went into surgery. I saw them take out a lil over 3 pounds of fat the nurse said…It looked gross…lol. glad its out of me. I was able to eat lunch after surgery. are a little sore right now but I need to take my antibiotic and pain medicine. I just woke up. It just feels like I had a work out session. I still walk, the only uncomfertable part is weraing this garmet cuz its wet from the leaking and I hate being wet. But again I'm just a wimp about everything.

I'll try and post my before pictures and later today when I can change my bandages I'll take a after photo and post that too. Blogs relly helped my in making my decision…I hope this is helpful for someone else too. :)

Smartlipo on Lower Abdomen and Flanks

Worth It
Spent: $3,250 in Lutz, FL

Hello, I am a 20 yr old female, 5'5" and 130 pounds. I work out 3 or more times a week, and most of the time that involves running. I am in pretty good shape besides this pouch on my lower belly. I have had it forever, and everyone in my family has it. No matter what I do, it will not go away!

I first was looking into mesotherapy, but after reading the scary reviews and satisfaction rate, I decided against it. I then looked at Smartlipo and have been researching it ever since. I have read every single review of Smartlipo on this site. There have been a few scary stories (hardness/lumps, cellulite??) but overall it seems much better than meso. I will of course "shop around" before I choose a doctor.

I have read every single Smartlipo review on this site and it helped me come to my decision to get this done. After looking for a good smartlipo doctor and visiting a few, I finally chose a medspa in Lutz, FL. I liked them because they only schedule one procedure a day, so they are not rushing your experience for the next customer. They were very thorough with answering all of my questions and really made me feel comfortable.

I decided to go with them, had me pre-op on May 10, and had my smartlipo done today (5/19/10). They had prescribed me antibiotics which I have been taking 2 days before and 2 days after my procedure. They also gave me a percocet and 2 ativan to take before heading over. (Someone else drove). When I got there I was given more drugs to relax me. I changed into the beautiful paper shorts and the sports bra I brought. I laid down on the table in the room, feeling very sleepy. I had brought a movie since there was a TV in the room that they were going to put on when they started. First the doctors marked me up while I was standing, (I was a little wobbly from the medicines, so I needed a little help). Then pictures were taken.

They started by injecting me with the numbing stuff and saline, which did pinch a little. After that they made the 4 incisions, but I didn't feel them since I was numb. Then they just started working the laser and sucking the fat out. Anytime it would start to pinch or get uncomfortable the nurse would watch my face and ask if I was ok, and if I wasn't they would inject more numbing solution. After that, I was fine. The turned me to my sides to do my flanks, then did some last little touching up. My nurse asked me to sit up so she could bandage me, but I felt a little dizzy so I just arched my back. Then she wanted me to sit up and eat a little bit and drink some sprite since my face was turning kind of white. (they asked me beforehand what i wanted to eat and even accommodated to my vegetarian diet by making me a PB&J!) After that my mom had come back to take me home and I was allowed to leave. I was very sleepy on the drive home and went immediately to bed. Have changed one of my absorbent pads since I've been home.

As for the pain, so far I am not feeling too much. I took some tylenol but it is starting to wear off. It feels like I am sore from an ab workout and where my incisions are it feels like it is a sore bellybutton piercing (I have had mine pierced a few times). So far, so good I would have to say. Can't really see any results because I am so wrapped up and swollen with the bandages and compression garment. Will post after pictures as soon as I can.

Updated on Jun 14, 2010:

I'll pretty much outline how the days after my procedure went. The 2 days after it were pretty painful. He prescribed me painkillers but they were milder than extra strength tylenol, so I took that every 4 hours. I stayed in bed or on the couch for a few days. I only took off 3 days from work, the day of the procedure and then 2 days after. I wish I had taken off more days because I was still in a little bit of pain. Luckily I got other people to cover my shifts and finally went back to work a week after my procedure. I had my procedure Wednesday and stopped draining by Saturday. I was even laying by the pool on Thurs. The garment I had to wear was kind of annoying, especially at night. My 3 weeks was June 9 and I am finally out of the garment. Yay! I have been getting ultrasounds every week. I'll update with any new info/pics.

Updated on Sep 18, 2010:

I'm about 4 months post op and so happy with the results! Skin tightening hasn't really started yet, but I can't wait to see the final results :)

Updated on 19 Dec 2010:

Well it has been 7 months since my procedure and I am so happy with the results! I can wear clothes I have never been able to wear and feel so much more confident. However, I do still have a small pocket of fat left in my "pouch" that makes me self-conscious. I talked to my doctor and they are going to do a touch-up for free :) I will probably have this done late January. I'm really excited and I hope that makes it go away for good! I also posted new pics from 7 months post-op.

My Stomach is Finally Flat, Thanks to Smart Lipo

Worth It
Spent: $4,000 in Philadelphia, PA

I got smart lipo done on tues 5/4/10, and I love my results already. I am 5'5 my weight fluctuates between 140-145. I eat healthy and work out no less than 4 days a week, but my belly was a problem that I could not get rid of. I have always talked about getting lipo but was always too afraid, finally I said just do it and thats what I did and I am so happy. My experience, my bestfriend went with me I was so nervous and kept talking about it, I was annoying her in the worst way, lol. I took a pill to calm me down and the doctor ask if I had any questions and began to mark me up, by the way he is the best Dr. ever and his staff is amazing as well. Originally he said I didnt need my bra-line done but when he started marking me he said he would do it for me anyways for FREE, yaayy me. The procedure was not pain full at all. The only discomfort I felt was the initial needle and after that it was a piece of cake. We finished kinda fast, I guess the procedure took about 2hrs. When I got home I took a nap, got up and took a walk as instructed by the doctor it helps the healing process. By the way I stalked this site out every single day looking at peoples pics and reading reviews, I was expecting the worst possible pain and it has yet to come. Day 2 Got up early went for a walk, went back to Dr. for follow-up he said I look perfect, that was music to my ears. I could only see myself laying down the Dr. said I cant stand alone with out the padding and garment until friday(today). I told him my pain is really mild only from sitting to standing he gave me a prescription for Vicodine, just in case. Nothing eventful for the rest of the day. I went on 2 more walks. Day 3 Pain is same as yesterday, did my walks and relaxed. Day 4. today I was so excited to see what I looked like I wolk up early and took the garment and padding off and YAYYYY my belly is flat. Per instructions only stay out the garment for 20 min. I took a shower and took some pics of my belly and back in a fresh garment. I brought 3 of them. My Dr. told me to wear it 3wks instead of 2. I also put on some spanx over top of my garment. My stomach is really numb, and hot to touch. I do have arnica gel but forget to put it on but I will put it on when i take a shower later. Oh and I have no bruising (jinx). I guess that would be thanks to the vitamin K the my Dr. prescribed and instructed i started taking 2 wks prior. I'm going to post some b4 and after pics today and another set in a months time. I couldnt get a good shot of my back since I was the one taking the pics.

Smart Lipo on Upper, Lower and Flanks, I Love the Results

Worth It
Spent: $4,000 in Philadelphia, PA

I have been wanting to get my stomach fixed, since forever. I am not a big girl at all, I’m 5’5 140lbs and I work out 4 to 5 times a week. I have been on this website everyday for over a month reading everyones story and anxiously waiting to post my story. From the posting i was expecting the worst possible side effects ever.

I gotmy surgery yesterday 5/4/10. the surery was not painful to me at all. besides the pinching of the needle it was pretty much painless, there were monents where I felt uncomfortable, I could feel when I was being injected with fluids from the vasor, I could hear the suctioning of the fat and lastly, the warm sensations of the lazer was just that a warm sensation.

When I got home I was totally fine no pain at all, I took two extra strenght tylenol before I took a nap, just in case I woke up in pain. After my nap I went for a walk s directed by my Dr. There was leakage but it didnt leak throught my garment because because I was so padded up.

today 5/5/10 went back to the Dr. took my garment off and OMG, to my surprise I have a totally flat stomach. Dr. told me not to stand up without the garment and padding until friday, after friday I dont have to were the padding but to still were the garment for 3 wks. again still no pain but Im waiting for it, my Dr. prescribed me some vicodine for pain in case I need it. I went for a walk first thing this morning and i will be taking 3 more walks today. Walking helps the healing so my Dr. says.

I will be posting before and after pics on friday after I take off my padding. Til then smile :-)

Smartlipo (Inner/outer Thigh, Knee): Loving It So Far!

Worth It
Spent: $4,250 in memphis, tn

I am a petite 5.1″ at 115lbs at time of the procedure.
After having my twins, I went from 100lbs to the 115lbs that I am now. Most all of this weight went to my thighs and a little to the hips and tummy area. My legs did not use to touch when I walked. lol
Now, thanks to Dr. Kemp, they don’t anymore.
I am only 2 days post op and still have some swelling, but I can tell a big difference.
For me, the pain on the outer thighs was not more than I anticipated. The inner thighs……OUCH! There were times that I wanted to come off of the table. Of course, I wanted quite a bit removed, and he had to go over the very top portion between 2-4 times to achieve the results. Had I only needed a very small amount of bulge removed, the pain would have been less. As it was, I wanted a completely slimmer leg (from top thigh to inner knee) This required not only that regular fat patch from the top inner thigh to be removed, but also an additional layer below that, so that it blended well. (at least thats the way that I preceive it)
I got sick after he was done -due to the meds- and the first night was very uncomfortable. I took an extra day in bed and just started to move around today. I can now bend my knees and I can walk with minimum discomfort. Also, going from the ace bandages to my pressure garment gave me a significant amount of relief. I have some swelling, but really don’t have any bruising yet. Which is a big surprise, considering how easy I bruise. I will try to update results over the next few months.
