Smart lipo of 7 areas

Smart Lipo: Was worth it
Cost: $3,600
Pain: Uncomfortable
Satisfaction: Very good

I had smart lipo done on 1/23/09 and am very happy so far!  My main focus was my belly (the lower ab pooch) I could never get flat, so I wanted it sucked out.  But since I didnt have a lot to have removed I decided to tackle some other problem areas as well.  I did my double chin (very small amount), arms, abs (upper and lower), flanks, inner thighs, inner knees and saddle bags.  I am 5′ 4" and was 142lbs when I went in.  My legs are pretty big (thanks Mom) and my arms are pretty muscular.
So, the surgery itself was not enjoyable.  I was under "twillight sedation" and was basically asleep, although I remember him telling me to turn over and then I was back out of it.  I spent the first 4 hours after the surgery vomiting….which was awful, but that is from the sedation, not the surgery.  I leaked really badly for 24 hours.  The first night was very uncomfortable.  The maxi pad suggestion is a very good one.
I was pretty mobile by Sunday (two days after) and actually went back to work on Monday and stopped taking pain meds Monday too.
My belly is flat!  No loose skin (I wear the garment religiously).  I dont see any other difference in legs or arms, but the belly and love handles are awesome!  Instant flat belly!
I went for my one week follow up (1/30/09)yesterday, and had the 18 stitches removed (not painful at all) and the doctor said there was still a lot of swelling and that it will be much better in the next few weeks.  Of course, if I am still not satisfied they will do a free touch up, but that does not sound like much fun….basically same procedure all over again.
I love the stomach results, and I hope the legs and arms get better with time.
Please keep in mind that I was not obese…..so that is why I choose to do so many areas…if you have a big tummy you probably need to focus on that and maybe get two sessions if you have other areas.
I would recommend this procedure for contouring, and perfecting problem areas….I had tired for years with sit ups and no luck….so if you are like me, this is a miracle procedure and worth every penny.
Also, note my quick recovery, I attest to being a healthy 34 year old non smoker and very light drinker (a few a month, maybe) and no drugs……so not everyone will be able to go back to work 3 days later.  More realistic is probably to take 3 days off….
Also, please note I have an 11 year old, so I tried for a long time before I resorted to this.  I dont plan on having any more children.  I also dont plan on getting any other procedures done.
Hope this was hopeful.  I will post pics as i get them.
oh yeah one more thing, I gained 8 lbs overnight after surgery…all fluids, etc….after a week of eating healthy I am back to my 142lbs….I freaked out when I got on the scale the next day.
Updated on Feb 3, 2009:
UPDATE:  I realized I didnt give credit to my wonderful boyfriend, who took excellent care of me for 3 days straight….you will need to have someone that you love and trust to care for you for at least two days (day of and day after).  He held my hair back while I vomited, and changed my bandages, he gave me a sponge bath and got me whatever I wanted.  You probably wont want to eat after the surgery, but you need to for the meds.  Try bland foods like soup or crackers and drink lots of water.
So, make sure you have some one with you that you will feel comfortable seeing you naked and at your worst.  Makes a world of difference.

Love smart lipo

Smart Lipo: Was worth it
Cost: $3,995
Pain: Uncomfortable
Satisfaction: Very good

I had smart lipo done  Jan. 27, 2009. I saw results as soon as I got of the bed. I had my outer hip area done. It is not total painless, but it is bearable.
I did my research and I called and look around. The doctor I chose is experienced and very friendly. I don’t do free advertising, but she is great. Make sure whoever you choose to do your procedure does exactly what you want them to do. If you have to make a long drive, make yourself and musical CD and go.

Not that great

Smart Lipo: Was worth it
Cost: $2,900
Pain: Severe
Satisfaction: Fair

The smartlipo numbing shots was horrible. I wanted that little belly pooch removed.
It did get some of the fat off but it looks a little lumpy or something. It has been almost five months so I don’t know if this is the result or not. I’m not sure how to describe it, like a tightness and cellutite mix. I hope it smooths out and looks fine.

Tolerable recovery experience, completely worth it.

Smart Lipo: Was worth it
Cost: $4,700
Pain: Uncomfortable
Satisfaction: Excellent

I had Smartlipo because despite all efforts in diet and exercise I couldn’t lose my pooch and love handles. I’d struggled with it since I was a teenager and have always been very self-conscious about it, even though I am in great shape. Also, my appearance is my living – I work as a dancer and a model.
I am nearly 4 weeks out now and there is a dramatic difference in the amount of swelling and bruising, and from what I understand I will continue to shrink and experience more results for the next couple of months.
When I was about 2 weeks out I had panicked because I still had a lot of unsightly lumps that seemed to be getting worse. It looked as though I had severe cellulite on my stomach. At the 2 week mark I was able to begin lymphatic drainage treatments (Synergie) twice a week, and also began exercising and running again. I’ve been drinking water like a fish and have been massaging my stomach at night before bed with an electric heated back massager while using emu oil cream and arnica gel. I continue to wear my compression garment as often as possible. The difference in the lumps between now and 2 weeks ago is dramatic – they are barely noticeable now. So, if you are in the same boat and worried about lumps, be sure to be proactive in your recovery and be encouraged that it will make a difference.
Overall I am VERY pleased with the result. The first week was very uncomfortable but not debilitating. The surgery itself was very easy, with the exception of the tumescent fluid injection – that was NOT pleasant and I was led to believe that it would be only a slight burning sensation for a few minutes. It felt like bee stings followed by extremely painful burning for at least 10 minutes. I’m sure others may experience it differently, but I was not expecting the injection to be as painful as it ended up being. After the burning subsided though, I was completely numb and only felt pressure as the doctor began to work on me. I actually drifted off to sleep a couple of times, I was comfortable enough. The surgery lasted about an hour and a half and a liter of fat had been removed. The draining went on for about 36 hours.
Smartlipo recovery is not any easier than any other procedure that traumatizes tissue, so other than it being misleadingly advertised as a "lunch hour" treatment I would highly recommend it for anyone with that does their homework on it and decides it is right for them.
At 4 weeks I still experience very minor discomfort, but nothing beyond expectation established before surgery.

Totally worth it

Smart Lipo: Was worth it
Cost: $3,200
Pain: Mild
Satisfaction: Excellent

I decided to go with smart lipo for many reasons. The cost of this procedure is obviously more realistic than traditional liposuction and it is safer. I had areas of fat deposits that would not go away even with vigorous exercise and weighing and portioning my food. I have a very small body and everything else on my is in shape except my tummy and back.
When I went in for the procedure I felt comfortable and was given a mild sedative and later on a pain killer. He started with the areas of my main concern and had extra freezing after so worked a little bit on my theigh and buttocks. Ther procedure was basically painless, although after when I was getting dressed in my garment I felt nauseous and was very pale. This went away after I ate and took some medication.
That night it felt less painful that a hardcore workout (probably because of the pain killers) I saw instant results and am very excited to see the rest after I am healed. I can confidently say I could return to work the next day. The only thing that was hard to deal with was the leakage of blodd and fluid. I had to wash my garment and change my padding as soon as I got home and that was quite the ordeal because you constantly leak! But after that I used maxi pads and have been fine.
In my opinion it is totally worth it.
Areas preformed in: Upper/Lower Abdomen, Flanks, Upper Back, Outer Theigh, Buttock

Happy with my results

Smart Lipo: Was worth it
Cost: $3,500
Pain: Mild
Satisfaction: Very good

I had my abs done about a week ago. The procedure was not painful at all, over in about an hour and a half.
Still a little sore, but happy with how it looks. I think what I like the best is the tightening. I’m 46, active, and have had three kids. Not a lot of fat to remove but I did have some extra skin. I’m looking forward to how it will look in a couple of months.

Smartlipo on chin

Smart Lipo: Was worth it
Cost: $2,250
Pain: Mild
Satisfaction: Excellent

I had smartlipo done on my chin on 01/09/09. Not a double chin, but a very prominent fatty cleft chin. The lipo was done to reduce the appearance of my chin.
I only had two small stitches under my chin where he inserted the cannula, and only wore 4 steri strips for a couple days for compression.
Today has been one wk, I can tell there is less fat there, but I have two small pockets of the melted fat which make it look a little worse then before. Doc assures me to be patient and they will take care of themselves. Here’s hoping. I’ve been told that the true results can take up to 6 months, he said for me probably 3 months.

My smartlipo journey

Smart Lipo: Was worth it
Cost: $8,000
Pain: Mild
Satisfaction: Fair

I knew for years I would one day have liposuction performed on my chest. I am an athletic male that has completed duathlons and half marathons. I unfortunately had stubborn fat around my chest area and flank. I had a bit of a stomach but nothing too embarrassing. I am 29 years old, I love the gym, I don’t drink, I don’t smoke. I was a good candidate for this procedure. Anywho, in all I had the procedure performed on my chest, love handles (flanks), upper and lower abs.
This website was very instrumental in helping me decide what to look for in a doctor and what to expect from the surgery.
I decided to have the procedure done under general anesthesia. The best choice I could have made!!! One minute I was looking up at my anesthetist, the next I was waking up in recovery. There was no awareness of a time lapse at all. I wasn’t nauseous from the anesthesia when I came to either! Since I had an afternoon surgery the first thing I wanted to do after waking was a bite to eat. Considering it had been 17 hours since I last ate. I can tell you the pain totally resembled having a tough workout from the gym. Not to be mean but some people said the pain was worse than a workout at the gym. It leads me to wonder if they know what soreness from a gym workout feels like. The pain and soreness is so far from unbearable. A few good pain meds and you should be good to go.
My surgery took place at 1pm on Tuesday, Dec 23, 2008. Wed. morning, 10am, I was able to do a little bit  of Christmas shopping. Be careful not to overdo it because it will cause you more pain and swelling. Some people say they can go back to work the next day. I can honestly say that although I was able to do a little shopping, there is no way I could sit at a desk for several hours. Plan some sick time and take the time off you need to recover!  I kept my bandages on for about 24 hours at which point I went to see my doctor for a follow up visit. It was the first opportunity I had to see the results.
My chest is swollen but noticeably smaller. I was told to expect them to get even smaller, which is exciting.
My lower abdomen is extremely flat even with visible swelling. My flanks are almost eliminated minus swelling.
Scaring consists of very small holes from the canula that I expect to heal without leaving a mark.
All in all, it was worth canceling my trip to Paris to have this procedure done. I will post before pics and day one pics soon. If you are in the Charlotte, NC area, I would totally recommend my doctor. Compassion and a caring environment are the cornerstones of their business! Just an overall great experience!
The worst part about it all is I can’t go to the gym for almost 8 weeks! That is going to kill me. But, again well worth it.
Updated on Jan 1, 2009:
UPDATE UPDATE: Finally uploading pics as promised. Still having a little pain. Not too bad though. Still numb in parts of the treated area. I am also starting to itch a little which indicates the numbness is wearing off. I am definitely glad the new year is here! Happy New Year!

Day 15 Post-Op:
I had Smartlipo on my upper/lower abs, flanks and chest (gynecomastia) 2 weeks ago. Immediately following the surgery I noticed my lower abs were almost completely flat and my love handles were smoothed away. I continue to pay strict attention to my doctor’s orders following the procedure and have worn my compression garment everyday with only a 10-minute break daily. Just not sure how I feel about this procedure if the results aren’t lasting. I posted pics because I thought maybe I was just imagining it. Unfortunately, the pictures only confirmed my fears. Look at dat 2 and day 15 pics. How the hell did that happen? I posted a question in the Q & A forum to see if this is normal. I really hate to think I wasted so much money.
Updated on Jan 6, 2009:
For some reason my pictures did not load during my last update. So I am attempting to reload these pictures. Day 15 pictures should be at the bottom of the page. To add an update you have to have a fifty word minimum. Since I am just reloading pictures this is all just filler.
Updated on Jan 12, 2009:

I had a doctor respond to the Question about the love handles appearing to return. I was told that this was normal swelling. The doctor further added that I won’t get a picture of what the results look like until about the sixth week. He also stated that I had really good results based on my pictures. I have decided to get off this emotional rollercoaster and wait it out. (did it work? Did it not work?)
This is about week THREE now. My doctor said I could not return to the gym or run for several weeks post-op which sucked considering I was in the middle of training for two upcoming half marathons and a full marathon in the Fall (if I am lucky I will get accepted for NYC marathon!!). After reading several post by doctors stating two weeks is about enough time to slowly get back to the gym, I decided I was going to run with my run group this past Saturday. You should have seen the look on my face when I found out we were running 9 miles! Here I am just lounging around for three weeks and then decided I was going to run 9 miles!!! I was excited I was able to complete the run although it wasn’t pretty! The soreness in my legs Sunday morning was a lot worse than the pain I felt post op!!! And yes I will admit I am being a crybaby!! [ :) ]. It is now Monday morning and it doesn’t appear I have had an adverse effect to the run Saturday morning. There has not been an increase in swelling or discomfort in my treated areas.
It appears my general swelling is continuing to diminish including the flanks that flared up last week. In fact, when the flare up occurred, the swelling was symmetrical. This morning I noticed it is now asymmetrical. The right side is a lot smaller than the left which I think is pretty funny. The exciting thing is that I am noticing a reduction in swelling on both sides.
My body has a little stiffness in the treated areas that I notice only when I stretch. (I hope that makes sense) It doesn’t cause discomfort or is even noticeable unless I stretch. I feel like my body is different and I am certain my results are going to be what I hoped for. I just need to be patient and not expect a miracle in two days. Thanks for taking the time to read this post.
