Painful post-op, not very happy with results so far

Smart Lipo: Was not worth it
Cost: $6,500
Pain: Uncomfortable
Satisfaction: Fair

I had SmartLipo of tummy, inner upper thighs, & inner knees 4 weeks ago. The first week was ok, but worse than I’d been told. Now I am having constant burning pain in abd. area & inner thighs.
Wearing clothes is uncomfortable & gets worse the longer I wear anything next to my skin. There’s hard lumpiness throughout the abd. & some in the thighs & knees. The skin looks normal first thing in the morning, but takes on a funny mottled color–not really bruised– as the day goes on, and the swelling increases throughout the day.
There’s a cleft on the front of both thighs, esp. on the right, where you can tell it’s where he started the inner thigh procedure. Will this go away? And both knees have an area that appears caved in. Legs, altogether, look worse than before. Abd. is flatter, but definitely not pretty.
The doctor had a great reputation & is a "teacher" of SmartLipo. I found him unprofessional & very rushed, as in "the more procedures he can do the more money he can make". Would I do it again? Probably not — at least, not with this surgeon. Can anyone comment about any of the problems I’m having? I’m pretty discouraged at this point.

2 weeks post procedure, waist 2 inches smaller

Smart Lipo: Was worth it
Cost: $4,900
Pain: Uncomfortable
Satisfaction: Very good

I had Smartlipo with suction performed on my upper and lower abdomen 2 weeks ago and I have lost 2 inches off my waistline, and my belly "hangover" is gone. I have a hard bump/line under my ribs that extends across my abdomen. My Dr. says this will go away with time and massage.
My belly button is a bit "twisted" looking, but this is my first day to not wear the compression garment and it "should" go back to normal with massage and after the swelling goes down. When and if my navel returns to its normal shape and when the bump goes away I believe I will be very happy. I am currently scheduled to have my inner thighs done. My procedure took a little over 2 hours and was pain free except when the suction tool got close to my ribs. Even then the pain was tolerable.
My Dr. injected 2500 ml of the numbing/anesthesia into my stomach and suctioned out 1600 ml of fluid/fat. I stopped leaking after about 36 hours. I drove home after the procedure and took 1 Lortab that evening and one the next evening to help me get to sleep. I had 1 bruise near my ribs that went away after a couple of days.
1 week before procedure

Wheelchair bound had smartlipo

Smart Lipo: Was worth it
Cost: $4,500
Pain: Mild
Satisfaction: Very good

I have been in a wheelchair for 19 yrs.I was never a candidate for liposuction until smartlipo came along.I had it done last friday so not a week yet.Since my stomach muscles are not inervated anymore,my intestines do not stay put and pouch out immediately upon rising. No matter what I did I could not get rid of the fat that built up over the years.I had very lttle pain, only at the wound sites.
They will take a while to heal since my circulation is poor.I had pain where there was more digging at an old surgery site with scar tissues, but that didn’t last either. Not too much bruising, less than I thought there would be.I needed no meds at all. One liter of glorious fat and fluid was sucked out.I saw 6inches across widest and 3 through navel after the first day.My doc was surprised.to see that much so soon. The next day I felt more swollen.I will not measure again for a few weeks .Seriously you cannot complain about the binders if you can walk! When you sit all the time and exert yourself to roll around the binder rises up under your bust very quickly.
Today since I have to go out I had my hubby stuff me into a long leg girdle style panty that I cut the crotch out of.I cannot pull up undies myself so this will stay on till he comes home. Then back  to the binders all night. You need to drink water since more fat with be flushed out with your urine.I do not have expectations for my old flat bellly ( still had at 34 and 4 pregnancies)because my innards will always poke out ,but I feel after the 3 months I will have even better results.I will then do a touch up.
My procedure took 3 hours and was a  much larger area than normal.Sort of an experiment for all of us.I try to eat only a palm full of food per sitting and more often ,to keep the intestines shrunk up.All in all,I am confident that I will be happy with the results. The proof was seeing the container of fat, that is definitely gone and it’s my job to keep it off.Anyone else in achair who had this done I would love to hear your results.

Great results, the recovery was a little gruesome

Smart Lipo: Was worth it
Cost: $7,500
Pain: Uncomfortable
Satisfaction: Very good

Two kids, one c-section, and all of me got small again except all around my midsection, I just had so much extra. I work out or run probably 6 days a week, for the last 2 years. So I went in for Smartlipo on upper and lower stomach, love handles, and back. Which is a lot of area really, it took 7 hours and they removed 1700 mls of extra me.
The procedure went great, the only part that was disturbing was the weird black string bikini underwear I had to wear. The post-op was pretty gruesome the first couple days, though. I was really bloated with the tumescent anesthesia. It was disturbing to look at for probably 3 days, I looked like I’d been chewed. Then came two weeks of looking like maybe Sharon Stone had icepicked me all over. Then a month of looking like I was packed with subdermal jellybeans. Weird, but okay.
Now two months later I look pretty awesome with clothes on. I don’t hang over my jeans and I can buy dresses and tops perfectly, basically if it fits at all I look great. Without clothes I still look a little like a science project, I have 14 scars from all the small incisions, and though my skin is way tighter my belly skin still looks like someone who had 2 kids, but you know what? Our bodies tell our stories to some extent, and I’m cool with what mine tells, both that I birthed children, and that I had this procedure. I didn’t want to spend the rest of my life being mad at my body for not springing back, and it feels like a relief to know that this is really it for me.
